Terms of Service
The legal framework governing the use of PDFTEQ's secure, engineering-grade document processing tools.
AGREEMENT TO TERMS
These Terms of Service constitute a legally binding agreement made between you, whether personally or on behalf of an entity (“you”) and PDFTEQ (“we,” “us,” or “our”), concerning your access to and use of the https://pdfteq.com website as well as any other media form, media channel, or mobile website related, linked, or otherwise connected thereto (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all of these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with all of these terms, you are expressly prohibited from using the Service and must discontinue use immediately.
1. Service Architecture & Description
PDFTEQ provides a suite of online PDF manipulation utilities (Merging, Splitting, Compression, Conversion, etc.).
- Client-Side Execution: Unlike traditional SaaS platforms, our tools utilize WebAssembly to process files locally within your browser's environment. We do not maintain a cloud storage database of user documents.
- Availability: While we strive for 99.9% uptime, the Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service (hardware, software, or connectivity) at any time without notice.
2. Student-First Educational Policy
We are committed to democratizing access to educational tools. Accordingly:
- Universal Free Access: All core PDF tools are provided 100% free of charge to students, educators, and academic institutions worldwide.
- No Paywalls: We do not lock essential features (such as page limits or file size limits) behind mandatory payment walls for educational use.
- Verification: We operate on a trust-based model and do not require invasive ID verification to access free student features.
3. Voluntary Payments & Contributions
PDFTEQ operates on a "Freemium" or "Donationware" operational model for non-student users.
- Optional Support: Payments made by non-students or professionals are strictly voluntary contributions to support server infrastructure and development costs.
- No Feature Locking: Making a payment does not "unlock" hidden algorithms or features; it is a gesture of support.
- Refunds: As payments are voluntary contributions and not purchases of goods, refunds are generally not provided unless required by local consumer law (e.g., EU Consumer Rights Directive).
4. Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Upload or process any content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassment, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, or invasive of another's privacy.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the underlying WebAssembly code or JavaScript logic of the Service.
- Engage in any automated use of the system, such as using scripts to send comments or messages, or using any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools.
- Attempt to bypass any measures of the Service designed to prevent or restrict access to the Service, or any portion of the Service.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
- Your Content: You retain full ownership of all files and data you process using PDFTEQ. We claim no intellectual property rights over the documents you modify.
- Our Content: The source code, databases, functionality, software, website designs, audio, video, text, photographs, and graphics on the Service (collectively, the “Content”) are owned by us and are protected by copyright and trademark laws.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN AS-IS AND AS-AVAILABLE BASIS. YOU AGREE THAT YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE AND OUR SERVICES WILL BE AT YOUR SOLE RISK. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE AND YOUR USE THEREOF, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
7. Limitation of Liability
In no event will we or our directors, employees, or agents be liable to you or any third party for any direct, indirect, consequential, exemplary, incidental, special, or punitive damages, including lost profit, lost revenue, loss of data, or other damages arising from your use of the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Since data processing occurs locally on your device (Client-Side), PDFTEQ is explicitly not liable for data loss caused by browser crashes, device failure, or local connectivity issues.
8. Modifications and Interruptions
We reserve the right to change, modify, or remove the contents of the Service at any time or for any reason at our sole discretion without notice. We also reserve the right to modify or discontinue all or part of the Service without notice at any time.
9. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and defined following the laws of India and applicable international regulations. Any dispute arising in relation to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
